With all the benefits associated with remote work, most people think they will adapt to it naturally. In reality, it’s not that simple. As a matter of fact, research shows more and more how remote work is a challenge for managers.
Why?
Because we forget how important the human connection is important for us, especially for an extra-extrovert like me.
Team cohesion is more important in remote work for several reasons:
Reduced Physical Presence
In remote work, team members are not physically present in the same location, which can lead to a sense of isolation and disconnection. Team cohesion helps bridge this gap by fostering a sense of togetherness and belonging.
Communication Challenges
Remote work often relies heavily on digital communication tools, which can sometimes lead to miscommunication or misunderstandings. Strong team cohesion can help mitigate these challenges by creating an environment where team members trust and understand each other, making communication more effective.

Building Trust
Trust is a fundamental component of successful remote work. Team cohesion fosters trust among team members, as they get to know each other better, understand each other's strengths and weaknesses, and rely on each other to meet their shared goals.
In summary, team cohesion is essential in remote work because it helps address the unique challenges that come with virtual collaboration. It promotes effective communication, collaboration, motivation, and problem-solving, ultimately contributing to the success and well-being of remote teams.
